More U.S. companies will hire [contract workers](http://innovativeemployeesolutions.com/wp/contract-workers/) in 2013, according to a [recent study](http://www.careerbuilder.com/share/aboutus/pressreleasesdetail.aspx?sd=12%2f27%2f2012&siteid=cbpr&sc_cmp1=cb_pr731_&id=pr731&ed=12%2f31%2f2013) by CareerBuilder. The job searching website found 40 percent of employers plan to hire [temporary workers](http://innovativeemployeesolutions.com/wp/temporary-workers/) in 2013, up from 36 percent last year.

CareerBuilder's "2013 U.S. Job Forecast" surveyed more than 2,600 hiring managers and [HR administration](http://innovativeemployeesolutions.com/wp/hr-administration/) professionals and nearly 4,000 workers from different industries and varied company sizes.

Of the employers who expect to bring in contract workers, 42 percent plan to transition these [temporary employees](http://innovativeemployeesolutions.com/wp/temporary-workers/) into full-time, permanent workforce members over the next 12 months.

Matt Ferguson, CareerBuilder's CEO, stated in a press release more than 60 percent of employers surveyed reported they're in a better financial situation now than they were one year ago. In addition, 40 percent said their sales have increased in the past six months.

Employers are beefing up on recruiting initiatives for permanent, contract and part-time jobs, according to the survey. Nearly one-in-five workers reported they've been approached in the last year to work for a company in which they did not submit a job application. Sales employees were the most likely to be sought out by outside employers. Retail employment grew by [610,700 in October and November alone](http://kpbj.com/business_daily/2012-12-26/retailers_snapped_up_temporary_workers_this_season), Kitsap Peninsula Business Journal reports.
