# Half of the unemployed have left job market

Nearly half of U.S. unemployed workers have [stopped looking for work](http://www.staffingindustry.com/Research-Publications/Daily-News/Almost-half-of-unemployed-in-US-have-given-up-on-job-search-survey-says-30165), according to a survey by Express Employment Professionals, reported by Staffing Industry Analysts. Those who have given up on finding work could try again with a temporary job. Temporary work would let unemployed people get back on their feet with jobs that give them experience and money, as well as the satisfaction of working again. Even in today's difficult economy, there is always hope. Some people are able to secure positions after following a temp-to-hire program. A proper staffing firm will help temporary workers get begin working again. But this can only happen if they don't lose their ambition for success.

The results, as they break down, are that 14 percent of respondents either agree completely or "a lot" when asked if they have completely given up looking for a job. Fifteen percent agree somewhat, and the remaining 18 percent agree a little.

According to the Charlotte Observer, jobless claims have [risen to 360,000](http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/05/22/4925682/us-unemployment-aid-applications.html#.U3-ikdJdXZ0) in May, so there are still plenty of people looking for work. However, overall, experts are optimistic.

"Don't be disappointed," Ian Shepherdson, chief economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said in a research note. "The trend is downwards, signaling faster payroll growth."
