# NLRB extends rollout period for employee rights poster

Due to apparent uncertainty over which businesses fell under the National Labor Relations Board's jurisdiction, the NLRB has decided to postpone the date for employers to post a mandatory union rights poster in their offices.

[HR administration](http://innovativeemployeesolutions.com/wp/hr-administration/) would likely be required to place the 11-by-17-inch poster in a visible area of their places of business. The poster outlines workers' rights to form a union.

The rule was supposed to be imposed on November 14, however the NLRB has postponed the date "in order to allow for enhanced education and outreach to employers, particularly those who operate small and medium sized businesses."

Board spokeswoman Nancy Cleeland told The Associated Press that many companies simply weren't familiar with the law, and were unsure if they were mandated to display the poster.

Due to the confusion, the implementation date has been pushed back to January 31, 2012. No other rules changes are expected to be made.

TLNT speculates three major lawsuits that stemmed from the board's announcement may have also played a role in the postponement.
