# The Workforce Belongs to Millennial Employees — Here's How to Keep Them Engaged

"I quit" are two words that could describe the [mood of the workforce](https://www.entrepreneur.com/leadership/quiet-quitting-is-taking-over-the-workforce-heres-how-to/434560) for the last few years. These words have been literally (or figuratively) uttered by many [employees](https://www.entrepreneur.com/topic/employees) across industries and are dreaded by employers. Most people have not realized that many [millennials](https://www.entrepreneur.com/topic/millennials) have or will tender their resignations over the next several years. That's because they are the largest generation in the U.S. [labor](https://www.entrepreneur.com/topic/labor) force, making up more than one-third of the workforce, according to [Pew Research Center](https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018/04/11/millennials-largest-generation-us-labor-force/). By the end of 2025, they will make up [75%](https://www.entrepreneur.com/business-news/the-millennial-takeover-how-the-generation-is-shaking-up/353284) of the global workforce.

Millennials — like many other workers — are taking advantage of the employee-friendly job market and making [employment](https://www.entrepreneur.com/topic/employment) changes all over the country. So, if you are not keeping millennial expectations in mind when creating your [work environment](https://www.entrepreneur.com/topic/work-environment), you will alienate most of the talent in the current and future job market.
